Hi Mike,
I have an '89 100E with a three speed auto. At 3000 rpm I'm just
above 60 mph. Right now my speedo is broken (cut wires) and I
calculate my speed by multiplying engine rpm by 2 (2000 rpm => 40
mph). But, the Audi is a high revving engine. I was hoping that the
4 speed in '91+ models would reduce the rpm somewhat.
Andreas Mayer, a new owner of a 91(?) 4 speed auto sent me this:
"I finally got to take the car out and it looks like there is not
much difference. In fourth gear the engine is going at 2800 rpm at
60. It is very quiet though."
