a decent deal, please email me. Email would probably be
better, since I know this has been beaten to death on the
list....but I have a V8Q and 5KS and never really paid much
attention to the 4KQ lighting posts. Mea Culpa.

What kind of lights has your friend got on his car currently? Are they the
quad type with the straight grill, or the sloping single units with the
matching grill?

In the first instance, he'd have the choice of looking for some
decently-performing generic units on the home market, or getting new ones
from Europe ($$$). Used ones are a non-event here, due to the scarcity of
intact cars in the yards.

For the sloping type, used ones are very hard to find here, too. I'm still
looking for a second one to make a pair for another lister, and I've phoned
lots of scrapyards. It's really hard to get used lights here, as all recent
cars in the yards here have either had a front-end impact or have lost
their lights already. If your friend wants to buy new, than the cheapest
solution I can see here will still cost about Dfl 300 ($170)/side. Shipping
to the USA will cost in the region of $100.

There is an alternative for the straight-grill cars: put in the grill,
single-type lights and turn signals of a pre-84 Euro 80 and you'll be home
and dry. This will cost a lot more to ship, but not as much to buy (I know
of a set for sale here, will cost about $200 total). This, however, will
not fit the later cars with the sloping front.

I'll keep my eyes peeled when I'm in a yard, but make no short-term
promises on this...

Tom
