perhaps that's why they allow passing on the inside in california ?

when we first got here we thought it was a dangerous thing. on
reflection, and after several years of living with it, the only real
difference is that you need to be aware of the possibility of passing
traffic on both sides when changing lanes, which is really something
that you need to be aware of anyways (whatever the law says).

the california highway code says that slow traffic should keep to the
right, but we all know the reality on the roads.

i will pass them on the right, unless i know it to be illegal and there
is an officer of the law in the vicinity. if an officer is around, i
would expect them to cite the moron......

TWICE today people have approached me about the a4qt. on both occaisions
the people were enthusiastically (it seems) considering purchase. i told
both of them the truth (IMHO), the a4qt is a wonderful car.
