re: comments about the ur-q (and old 80's/4000's) 'old' rear suspension
i made the comment before that the escort world rally car had "reverted" to struts
for it's rear suspension setup (a la ur-q). in reading the comments on the monte carlo
rally, malcolm wilson the ford rally motorsport boss [sainz in the escort was a strong
2nd in the rally in the new escort 'world rally car'], had this to say "The cars speed
has come not simply from its drivers but also from abandoning the old trailing arm rear
suspension in favour of a strut, providing both the ground clearance and geometry
control which the old Escort had hitherto lacked".
