Re: Mac-01 vs. Mac-02
Paul,
I'm not quite sure I follow your argument here:-

> unstreetable. Let me know if I can be of more help.
RDH's modified EPROM is a very easy and reliable way of increasing the
performance of a North American ur-q. By mounting an IC socket in the
MAC02 it is very easy to try many different EPROM programs and revert
to the original.
"Totally unstreetable"? your modification does not allow the duty
cycle of the frequency valve to be modified for a more aggressive cam
(e.g. a Shrick 272). This can only be done by reprogramming the ECU
and supplying more fuel for a steadier idle. Allowing the ur-q I5 to
reach red line in the same phase of the moon hardly makes it
unstreetable.
Once the assembly code is understood, reprogramming the EPROM offers
many more tuning possibilities than the Schrapnel Knobben. I agree
this is not what most people are looking for, but don't write it off..
I respect your work (hey, I bought a Schrapnel Knobben) but personally
I prefer the EPROM mod.
