front subframe bushings

Hey,

     Got a 86 5000 that needs front subframe bushings.  Dealer prices are
like 50.00 for the rear and 25 for the front... Is there any other supplier
of these bushings??  I recall reading something about someone on the list
making buchings of a different material ( plastic and not rubber).  Can
anyone shed some light on the subject??
