glass fix?

I note with some amusement Phil Payne's grumble that "there _are_ no Bosch
fuel injection experts in this country."

I'd like to humbly amend that: There MAY not be any Bosch fuel injection
experts on this PLANET!

Yesterday, while bored to tears waiting in the dentist's office, I was
reduced to reading one of those glossy magazines that features $50,000
garages and $30,000 bathrooms - fancy homes at fancy prices for national
lottery winners, etc.

Anyway, there was an article about a company in Boston that will repair Aunt
Maude's crystal wine glasses when her boorish guests drop and break them.
They also do chandeliers, and so forth. They get about $80 an hour for this,
and claim to have a TWO YEAR waiting list.

Their secret? And I quote: "For cracks and re-assembly of broken items, we
use Devcon 5-minute epoxy. To fill pits and bulls-eyes, we use Devcon 2-ton
epoxy. We let it harden, and then clean it up with razor blades and acetone.
The Devcon epoxies are the clearest ones we've found and don't change color
later." I seem to recall lots of weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth on
this list about rock dings in the glass lenses on various headlights.

Anyone have a damaged light assembly stashed away (can't bear to throw it
out - the new one cost $9,0000,00000!) they'd like to experiment on and then
report back to the rest of us?

Best Regards,

Mike Arman
