I can agree with this. I've done it many times to people that are on the
phone with me. I just tell them "hold on, there is some %$&*@# trying to cut
me off" or whatever....

I also tell them that I am at the toll booth, so that they don't wonder why
I am not paying attention.

I think there is some truth to the theory that people on the other end tend
to forget that you are driving a car. Otherwise, I would not have to
interrupt as I so often do. Yeah, they can't picture what is really going on
at the time on your end....

FWIW, I used to have only a hand-held cell-phone, but decided (for a few
reasons, but mostly for safety) that I wanted a hands-free speakerphone
set-up. I bought a Nokia arrangement that also boosts the power of the
hand-held (from .6 watts) to a full 3 watts.

I'm so glad I did... I prefer having two hands available!!
