RE: Aftermarket stereo in A4
ok...I've never owned a car with a factory stereo that I haven't replaced...I currently have in my A4q an Alpine 7618 head unit in Audi red, which goes to an Audio Control 4xs crossover which will eventually go to a pair of Audio Control EQT's that I intend to mount INSIDE my rear seats where from there it goes to an Alpine ERG3 eq/dsp/time alignment unit and then on to a pair of a/d/s PQ20.2's, which I intend to install INSIDE of my sub box which will be comprised of a pair of JL Audio 10w6 subwoofers each in their own internally braced enclosure with an internal volume of about .9cu ft each being fed off of one of the PQ20.2's in two channel mode at 300 wpc into 3 ohms. the other PQ20.2 now feeds a pair of MB Quart 6.5's", a 4", and a tweet in EACH custom made door panel, the PS5.2 will eventually run a pair of raw MB Quart 5.25's" in the rear deck. oh, and before I forget, we have a nice Alpine chm-s604 changer tucked away neatly inside of the glove compartment. the answer to your question regarding the size of the radio is YES, and NO. the head unit itself is standard euro-din but the face plate is wider. with some ABS plastic and a dremel tool you could make a nice trim piece for it. hope this helps...

Subject: Aftermarket stereo in A4
I've got a fairly extensive stereo installation in my existing
car that I'll be moving over to my A4. Has anyone else yanked out
the stock system?
Currently, I've got an Alpine head unit and CD Changer (which
lives in the glovebox in my Saturn--nice to not have to go to the
trunk to swap magazines), electronic crossover which feeds a
4-channel amp for the front separate speakers and a 2-channel amp
for the 8" subs mounted under the rear deck.
I'm assuming the stock radio is standard DIN sized, right?
Thanks in advance for any hints/tips...
Jeff
