Where are you having the wheel repair done? Who else on the list has
experience w/wheel repair? I ask because today I discovered that not
one but *two* of my Ur-Q 15x8 Ronals are bent (sorry, Sarge). They
aren't bad enough that I notice it (they're on the rear), but I'm glad
I know this as I've got them up for sale, and thought they were
perfect. The guys at the tire store claimed they (the bent wheels)
were responsible for my 55mph vibration, but mysteriously, there was
no vibration when they mounted them. I told them to rebalance them,
as there had been no vibration originally, vibration appeared, car
went back for wheel balance, vibration disappeared. So now vibration
reappears, shop guy says: "Balancing won't help- you got bent wheels."
I say: "Balance 'em anyway." Lo and behold: no more vibration! I hate
mechanical problems, but I *really* hate incompetence!
However, I saw the wheels wobble, so who knows wheel repairers?
===================================
I took the wheel personally down to The Wheel Collision Center (Pennsylvania)
after calling them for an approximate maximum and minimum....they quoted
between $ 70 - $ 130....when I got there, the "technician" took the wheel
inside, came out with a "rating" of 8 (out of 40), which wasn't too bad
(IMO), but they still charged me $ 165 to do the job...I'm going to call the
owner after I recieve it and complain...as another guy who had a 91 200tqw
and now an S6 said they only charged him $ 100.00, and other "endorsements"
they had as advertizements said that they repaired a "seriously" mangled M3
wheel only cost $ 138 and change....

I would definitely check out the ones in the Boston area before I took it to
these guys...but I will report to the list how this one fared....it was only
cosmetic damage to the outside of the wheel - even my dealer mechanic wanted
to mount the wheel on one of the back hubs of the car, and mount one of the
rears up front...

Many listers prefer the Boston/MA ones...although these guys say they have a
patent pending on the process they use...don't quite see how they could...
