Re:97 S6 Stateside and Audi Canada

Yes, you can still get S6 in Canada, and yes, they are basically the same spec as the last US
versions(20v I5T). No S6 4.5 V8 :-( Canada hasn't (yet) enacted compliance with OBD-II laws.
NAFTA specifies that our vehicle emission laws must 'harmonize' with the US laws. While the
VW/Audi/Porsche organizations are run from the US HQs, they still have to deal with the laws in a
different country.(stateside in Canada???)

MSRP in Canada is $63,550 Cdn. Without OBD-II, you can't import it into the US.

PS.One other minor difference maybe....salesman at the dealership told me he believed that it
was against the law in Canada to sell a new car for MORE than the MSRP!

Subject: 97 S6 Stateside and Audi Canada

Hi All,
I noticed someone posted that the s6 is still sold stateside in Canada. I
know VW US and VW Canada were separate until 1995 thus the canadian only 95
Corrado VR6. Does this mean Audi Canada is separate from Audi US? If I had
the bucks a 97 S6 would be sweet. Keep in mind you can buy a canadian car
at 75% of the canadian price due to the exchange rate.
Does anyone know the specs of the S6. Does it have 30V technology or is
there a V8 S6? What wheels does it come with? I would think Joe Hoppen
could make some money importing the things.
