No drilling required. Two Allen screws and two washers(holding a
spring) later, the aluminum housing is off.

Are the upper and lower parts of the steering column NOT actually
secured together. It appears that the spring assembly pressing down on
the aluminum housing on the shaft actually holds the two pieces of the
steering column together! Is that true?
My next problem is to reapply the washers(that press against the
spring) to the steering shaft. I have no idea how to "push" them on.
They were hard enough to get off w/o the right tool. The clamping
together of the upper and lower parts of the steering column with
self-gripping pliers may help here though. Any and all help is
appreciated!!
