Oddball audis
Hey! I get a kick out of this mailing list, and have a few audi topics to
discuss and get more info over. First, what is the deal with the Non quattro
4000S vs. 4000CS. My friend has an 86 4000CS which has some neat options
(suede seats, trip com.) and the 4/108 wheels off the 5000 and 87 4000. The
car is stock. My mech has 2 4000's, both S's, 1 86 and 1 87. I know the
87's got the 108 wheels, but the 85 and 86 had the same Ronal 16 spoke wheels
with 100mm bolt circle and different center caps. You should have seen the
face on my friend when I pulled up next to his 4000CS quattro with the same
stock wheels on my GTi. He thought I'd put the body of the GTi onto the 4000
chassis. Anyone have any furthur thoughts? These wheels were only on the
car for 2 years, aparently, and only on S's, not CS's. The set I have is for
sale, 200$, but will only fit VW and 4000S's (as well as early coupes,
right?)
Next, were there any U.S. spec 4000 2 doors post 85? any quattro models?
There is a 82 2 door 4000 4E sitting near my house in a junkyard, the body is
good if anyone interested.
Last, does anyone know of a 4000 5+5 for sale? Was this model available in 2
door form?
BTW...my oddball audi is for sale...a Coupe GT with a factory Automatic. 1
