Re: No More Cool Carbons...

For info, I had used cool Carbons on a Porsche Carrera Turbo-Look at several
race track driver's education events, and was extremely pleased with their
performance - excellent stopping and no problems with boiling fluid. When
they wore out, at the recommendation of a local Porsche shop, I tried
the Pagid yellow compound. After bedding them in and heat cycling them,
I tried them on the track. After about 20 minutes, noticed the brake pedal
was feeing spongy, like the brake fluid was starting to boil. Back off for a
few laps, and the pedal became firm again. This went on all wekend. So,
while the stopping power was similar (although still felt the Cool Carbons
were superior), they did transfer more heat into the fluid.

By the way, this was a factory Turbo-Look with the 930 4-piston calipers,
drilled rotors, and with a brake cooling duct (Alan Johnson) and running
Castrol LMA brake fluid.

I just got a letter today from a Cool Carbon distributor, and I just
found
out that CC is no longer in business. Well, it looks like I'll be trying
the Pagids next.
