Am I the only one who feels disturbed by this sentiment?
If an officer is uncomfortable with men who wear pink shirts, should
he be able to order them around?

It is insane enough to give someone who passes a six-month training
course the rights to order people around and allow them access to
weapons private citizens cannot have.
In high school civics classes, students are taught that the police
exist to preserve the rights of private citizens. There is a risk
level inherent in any occupation. A system defeats itself when it
subverts its own purpose in order to fulfill it.

Think about this:
COPS LIE.

IMHO, this new power also gives racist cops (not the majority, but you
know damn well that A LOT of them are out there) one more way to
harass their preferred minority.
" 'scuse me there, boy, mind steppin' out of the car?"
"I didn't do anything"
"Don't make me pull you outta there."

To further extand Dan's logic:
The police realize that German cars are frequently operated by drug
dealers. Drug dealers are likely to carry guns. Cops would feel more
comfortable with fewer guns on the road. Therefore the Supreme Court
should authorize the police to pull over and search all German cars.
Maybe they could team up with a bunch of actuaries and determine an
index of vehicles that could be pulled over for no reason (remember,
the cop needs no reason to pull the passengers out), based on the
race, gender, age, sexual preference, religion, and oil filter
preference of the driver.

Chart out the logic. It is sound. And NEVER trust a cop to protect
you.

Have a good day.
