RE: s2 sedan

There's actually 2 issues of European Car that may interest you. One has
the article on the real S2. The issue is January 1994, Volume 25, Number
1. The article begins on page 106. The car is no real big deal other than
it is a 90 Quattro with a S4 engine in it. Obviously it has the other
stuff a S4 has, like fatter wheel wells, bigger wheels (16" Avus) etc. The
performance number are 0-100 km in 6 seconds, top speed of 153 mph.

Now the real monster is in issue June 1995, Volume 26, Number 6. This is
the MTM RSR. This started as a European Coupe Quattro S2 and is tweeked
until it puts out 428 bhp, races 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds, hits 100 mph in
9.0 flat and tops out at 168 mph. I don't have the space to go into the
details here, alothough you own it yourself to get the back issue if
possible and read the article.

It terms of converting your CQ into an S2 type, I heard yesterday, through
the grapevine, an engine transplant will take appoximately 100 hours of
labor. If you've the dough, you'd have a fun car!

You might want to speak to Ivor @ Total Audi Performance (TAP) or George @
Rally Motorsport. Both have shared stories of 400+ hp turbo I5's they have
built. George even mentioned one they did that is rated at over 500 hp.
If true, I seriously wonder about the reliability of such an engine.

Well, that's the deal. Have fun on your quest.

Michael -
If it isn't too much trouble, I'd like to know which issue of EC it was
that had the S2 by MTM write up. I'm toying with the idea of converting
a CQ into an S2.

TIA

-Bryan
