I know that rear pads in a drum set-up can become hardened with brake
fluid if there is a leak in the cylinder and if that is coupled with an
old E-brake cable that is well-rusted, . . well . . my rears sometimes
stick and either a good whack with a hammer to the inside of the drum
while the car is on a lift or a good solid thump to a pothole will
usually un-stick them. I do NOT think it is the brakes any more, but I
have felt major vibrations VERY SIMILAR to this when I have been dumb
enough to leave the E-bake on. I think it may be a bearing(s), a C.V.
joint, or something involving the driveshaft(s), or something completely
new to me! The car is an utter mess(vibrations felt in pedals, steering
wheel, and chassis!) at high speeds(75 and gets exponentially worse as
speeds go up from there)! At low speeds, it feels as if the car is
being bogged down by major friction, rubbing, whatever. I dunno. . . the
shop I "use"(I mean that in the cruelest manner) to give me a free
estimate was too busy today, so I should know tomorrow, as long as they
can diagnose . . . Thank you for trying.
