I doubt it. When my pad sensor light came on, the pads were worn to the
point where they needed to be replaced. It looked like they had 1/2" to
3/8" of pad left, but in reality the friction material had been used up.
What remained was NOT the intended friction material, but some sort of
binding compound that had a much higher metal content. Sounds to me like
you may be into this part of the brake pads. YMMV
