Common problem, I imagine. 

Whether you want to scrap your wheel for the threading is a different 
story but...

I had the same problem on my 86 5k. went down to True Value and picked 
up epoxy-type (two tubes, plastic & hardener) stuff that was for 
plastic only. Used a Q tip and refitted those little cylinders to the 
wheel. 3 of them were broken, and the next time I pulled it after the 
fix, only one broke again. Two removals since, no breaks. 

Lastly, I would recommend letting the stuff cure for a GOOD WHILE 
before putting the pad back on. Otherwise you will have a real PITA on 
your hands.
