Mark, to the best of my knowledge, Fluke does not have either a 78 of an
88 in their model range.
The 70 series are: 70, 73, 75, 77, 79.
The 80 series are: 83, 85, 87.

Only the 80 series has a Duty Cycle measuring capability. I wouldn't
recomend buing a multimeter without this feature for troubleshooting
your turbo Audi. You can get away with a cheapest of the three, the 83,
it has everything that you'll ever need.

I have compiled a list of various vendors for Fluke, as well as for
other precision electronic test equipment and tools. I hope that fellow
listers, whose main line of work lays outside of the electronics field,
will find this vendor list usefull.

1. Techi-Tool: 610-941-2400, http://www.techni-tool.com
2. Contact East: 508-682-2000
3. Jensen Tools: 800-426-1194
4. New & Used test equipment: 800-748-3457
5. MCM Electronics: 800-543-4330
6. Allied Electronics: 800-433-5700, http://www.allied.avnet.com
7. Test Equity: 800-822-3457, http://www.testequity.com

All of the above sources have Fluke 83 for $265, except for #7, which
has it for $249.

Here are some non-Fluke multimeters with the Duty Cycle feature:

a) BK Precision 5360 - $249,
b) BK Precision 3000 - $270, this one is called an "Automotive Digital
Multimeter"
both are available from a vendor #6.

c) Wavetek 2030 - $329, (my favorite, I own one), available from a
vendor #2.

If anyone is interested in any further information (like the specs on a
particular model and such), please do not hesitate to ask.
