Mobil 1(and vac. leak)
Hey there everyone,
First I would like to thank everyone for the help with my speeding
ticket, I lost but the help is appreciated.
Anyways, years ago I owned a 1990 VW Fox, I put a product called
SYNTHOIL engine oil int it, after a while the lifters started to get
noisy, have no idea why. Now I have a 84 4000s(5 cyl) For the most part
I used PENZOIL with a fram filter, after a while the lifters became
noisy. I changed to use CASTROL GTX with a FRAM dual guard filter (with
teflon additive) This combo did wonders for my car, no more lifter
noise. The next oil change was with MOBIL 1 and a Bosch filter. The
lifter noise is back, but I have smoother revs at 4500 rpm. Next time I
am going with CASTROL SYNTEC.
I have a question about these bosch filters (with anti-drain back
valve), everytime I start my car it take about 3-4 second for the oil
light to go off and pressure to rise. Is this normal??(It's like
starting your car after an oil change)
I use AMSOIL in my transmission(5 spd.) It's the greatest stuff,
especially on cold days. I am very happy with it.
Now about vac. leak, last week I installed a vacuum guage, according to
my manual, it should read 14 - 16 inhg. mine reads 15.5 inhg. There was
a leak at first and it was reading 12 inhg, so this problem is solved
now. I dont know for sure, but isnt this an easy way to detect a leak??
SEE ya later.
