Oh, my. Well, the thread may not have any Audi content, but
since all dogs are "quattro", I'm gonna chime in here.
Mark, I agree completely and totally with the paragraph
above. It does sound as though the owner will be discriminating
in finding a home for these dogs, though.

While breeds and breed groups do share some basic generalizable
characteristics, I strongly disagree with these. The
"virtually untrainable" just ain't so. I've got some experience
with Flat-Coated Retrievers, and as far as trainability, I'll
bet that there's quite a few more UDX huskies around than there
are flatties...
The comment about being great with kids is probably a decent
generalization, but I just wanted to point out that with rescue
dogs, you generally don't know what you're getting. As nice an
idea as it is (and I've owned a rescue Flattie myself), a rescue
situation should *never* be approached with such generalizations
in mind. Individual dogs need to be evaluated by persons
with both experience in the breed, and with some knowledge of
the prospective owners' situations.
