Audi V8, 1992, questions!

Audi V8 questions (1992 automatic):

1. Can anyone guide me to a workshop manual or at least something with
more technical
info than the Owners Manual that was in the car? Prefer English, but
can cope with German
though would be better in Dutch (in the unlikely event that they were
ever translated into
     such a language)!

2. When I got this car, in January, the coolant temperature never rose
above (estimated) 80 Celsius
(yes, the gauge does give figures). Oil temperature never rose at
all, and the oil was full of sludge
(now gone after two changes of Syntec). I had the dealer put a new
thermostat in, and now the
coolant temperature runs close to 100 C, but rises about 8 C when the
AC compressor cuts in.
Oil now reaches the first marking on the gauge, which is where my 1996
A6 Quattro wagon runs,
so assume is good. The Owners manual simply states that coolant
temperature should settle
down near the middle, but may go into the right sector at times, but
not to worry unless the
     coolant warning light comes on.
Anyone know what is a good temperature? I commute from Shelburne, VT
to Montreal, Quebec
weekly, and in the summer can sit on the Champlain Bridge for long
times at 90 F or higher
ambient temperatures, so am a little concerned.

3. The central locking and unlocking works fine with the keys, but the
infra-red remote has no effect.
Both keys do emit IR pulses (we checked them with that useful gadget
from Radio Shack). Any
ideas what I need to fix, and where I can find it (thats one reason
why I need a workshop manual).

4. The climate control either has a mind of its own, or I am an utter
idiot. It should work the same as
the A6, but sometimes I cannot get it to cool at all, just keeps
blowing hot even when the temp
setting has been taken right down to LO. Again, what needs fixing
and where can I find it?

       All comments gratefully received.
