Me...
Thanks for all the concern - it's really nice to know I've got friends
like you guys out there.
Bernie's description was pretty accurate: off the road, in a forested
area, in the middle of a sharp left. The car started rolling over in the
air, hit a tree about 20' off the ground and bounced back down to sit on
all 4 wheels. I have seen it this morning, and it ain't a pretty sight:
the front passenger's side roof is pushed in 1'+ and the driver's side
at least a few inches. None of the doors will open and there's no an
whole window in the car. The bottom 1/3 or so looks OK, but who knows
what it may have landed on. There were no pools of anything on the floor
under it.
I think it's a write-off (2 down, 147 to go...), so I'll probably be in
the market for another Quattro sometime quite soon. I may try to buy the
car off the insurance company for parting out some of the more rare
items on it (drivetrain bits, UFOs etc.). Anybody have any experience
with doing something like that?
Again thanks for all the concerned mails. These 2 lists amaze me time
and time again.
