Re: Another CB victory
> Is there a reason other than aesthetics for "stealthing" a CB in the USA?
Well, I thought they were extremely out-of-style, out of date, useless,
and used only by fat and drunk backwoods hill-billys, truckers, gun
owners, backward ass losers, and people who couldn't afford cell phones.
Therefore the "stealthing,"..a means of not associating oneself with a
certain crowd. Guess I was wrong, AGAIN! At least about the typical
user...I could very well be right however about the reason behind
stealthing, since a lot of people I know wouldn't be caught dead with
one mounted in their precious car. I had no idea normal
car-driving(especially AUDI owners) people were still using CBs. I
assumed they were still in use by truckers and other mobile groups like
public workers/law-enforcement?/security/whatever(I have no idea), but
by regular civilians driving cars?! That was the last group of people I
expected to be using them. Shows how little a)I get out to mingle with
other car fanatics, and b)I know.
But now *I* am interested and want to know if a scanner can be used
as/is interchangeable with a CB. I have used(for very short times)
several high-priced hand-held scanners and would defintely carry one of
those around. I even thought about it before because an owner of one of
said hand-helds demonstrated how he used it to "know" where the local
police were setting up radar-camp that night! So just wondering if a
scanner is essentially a CB? I believe some products are both, true?
While on the subject of general knowledge and evasion of the
enemy(police/radar/stealthing/scanners), has anyone in the state of MA
noticed the odd and very sneaky unmarked vehicles the state police are
using now-a-days. I typed vehicles for good reason - I have seen a plain
white mini-van with tinted windows, a new Chevy Cavalier, and tonight,
an older Ford Bronco(?) with 4 yellow marker lights on top of the cab
and a two-tone paint job. Truly a mixed bag of tricks! All have those
intense, very high rate of flash, colorless bulbs cleverly installed in
the stock turn-signal/parking light assemblies and NOTHING else. I was
wondering if there is any publication or place where a citizen can get
info on exactly what they are using(A web page with pictures would be
IDEAL! If there is none out there, maybe someone would be willing to
organize an effort to acquire photos of all the unmarkies and scan them
onto a web page).
Sorry ONCE AGAIN for the BW. TIA! Allan
