CV Joint Removal

Here's a two part question on CV joints:-

First, while removing the left rear drive shaft from my ur-q (I
believe it was about two and half years ago now..) I punctured the
metal end cap of the inner CV joint. Now I need to repair or replace
the end cap. The cap only comes as part of the CV joint kit, since the
joint itself is fine I was wondering if anyone had an end cap from a
blown joint that I could buy? The cap measures 11cm diameter and it's
secured to the thick outer part of the CV joint by the 6 bolts that
connect the drive shaft to the rear diff (Scott do you like the
punctuation ;). I was hoping this might be a standard cap size, 5KTQ's
     etc?

Second how do I remove the cage and the inner joint. I've removed the
outer part, the ball bearings and the circlip. The Bentley shows the
inner part of the joint is pulled off. My puller only grips the outer
cage, can I SAFELY pull the joint off the shaft by the outer cage? I'm
concerned about scoring the outer cage and inner part of the joint.

     Thanks and regards, Mike
