Subject: Trip Computer Fun....
Hi Folks,
This is a second attempt to see if anyone knows anything about or has
tried to look at the interesting codes that you can
produce on your MFI (multifunction something). I got a mailing from Bob
Davis (Q-Lister, navigator extraordinare) that told of some
of the mysteries of VW trip computers...so I tried the following on my own:
Turn car ignition on.
Use trip computer selector to select upper left hand corner of screen
(instant mpg on mine)
......press reset button and hold
While continuing to depress reset button, turn off ignition
Turn ignition back on (do NOT start car)
Release reset button
Use selector button to read codes on screen (one of which I believe is
an engine map code and one a country code)
In addition, some vehicles may have a "running" indicator...do the
same as above and
actually take the car out for a drive instead of just turning the
ignition back on the second time.
Let's see what we can see...just for sh*ts and grins!
