I have a '82 urq too and just replaced the pressure accumulator. I didn't
notice the twitch problem, but definetly the hard pedal you described. The
bomb is $60 from Chris Semple at Autobaun or $65 from GPR. It take less
than 5 minutes to change too, without getting under the car. This is the
one maintenance item Audi got very right on these cars! The bomb just
un-screws with an oil filter or strap wrench. Good luck.
