Re: '88 5KTQW

Well the good news is the car looks very good. The interior is
immaculate, cool Momo wheel and shift nob. The engine started and ran
well, engine looked about right for an '88 car, no visible leaks and
"apparently" had a new clutch, timing belt, head gasket, rebuilt front
brakes, the diffs worked fine. The two front shocks were new Tokico?,
     and new strut bearings.

The bad news the car had been shmacked at the front and back. Both
front wings had been removed, replaced and repainted. When I pointed
out the underseal and roughness on the near side wing the guy selling
the car said it was just the under seal showing through. When I
pointed out all the bolts holding the front wings on were slightly out
of position he changed his story. Something must have hit the back of
the car too because with the tailgate up there were repairs around the
inside of the light clusters. I couldn't examine the back too closely
because there wasn't much daylight left.

I have no problems buying a car that has been in an accident, if the
seller is honest and up front. But this guy wasn't even close. Sad
really becuase the car looked really sharp, drove well, but way too
many unknowns, even with a thorough check over I just wouldn't know
what the car would look like in a couple of years from now... Hmmm oh
     well.

     Regards, Mike
