Actually, the mileage didn't bother me. The intermittent warm blowing
a/c and non-functioning tach bothered me more. When I see a high
mileage car in good condition, I always figure that it was mostly
highway driven, which is how all my cars wind up. It always p*ssed
me off when trading in a car that no matter how immaculate the paint,
the interior or the engine, no matter how stringently the maintenance
was adhered to, the salesman invariably checks the odometer, shakes
his head and says, "Miles are kinda' high." Grrrrrrrrr
I guess it is true that I would have extra to put toward repairs if
the car was a little cheaper. I just shudder at having to replace
something as major as the a/c, knowing from reading the list that
repairs on Audi's tend to be pricey to begin with. If you just
bought your's and you're living in an area that is cold this time of
year, asking you about the effectiveness of the a/c is kind of
pointless. I am glad that it isn't the automatic climate control.
I'd be REALLY afraid of having to get that fixed.
Oh well, there's a 87 Coupe GT that's going for about 3500 that I'll
be looking at this weekend. Maybe I'll end up with that, and have an
extra $7500 left over for repairs. If I didn't like that 90 so much
I wouldn't care, but damn its a nice looking car and solid and quiet
on the road.
decisions, decisions........
