90 90q 20v redline top speed
What is the redline top speed in a 90 90q 20v? I had one (sold it last
year) and have wondered as to the authenticity of my speedo. One day (a
few years ago) a coupla friends and I were travelling down a completely
deserted, nice dry afternoon, limited access freeway in Michigan, and
the speedo was showing 143 MPH. (For you flame throwers, there were NO
other cars on the road, and no cross roads/on ramps, or small fuzzy
animals in the vicinity, and I am older and faster, uh, I mean *wiser*,
now;).
So anyway, I had about 200 RPMs left before redline. The car had a TAP
chip (supposedly +17 HP - I *could* feel a difference) and a K&N (+ 347
HP, or so I hear;)). Tires were BFG Comp T/A 205/50 ZR15‘s, maybe 1/10
worn. I just can’t believe that the car would go *that* fast,
particularly with 3 people (and a waterski) in it, although we were on a
very slight downhill slope. It felt plenty stable, though. What should
the speedo have read 200 short of redline in 5th?
Just wondering.....(Nomex on)
