Totalled my 5ktq wagon!
Well, they say bad luck comes in three's. Then all you other turbo Quattro
wagon owners out there can now breath a sigh of relief. For tonight, I took
out the third Pacific Northwest turbo Quattro wagon in as many months.
I won't go into details, but I left the road wide during a left hand turn,
got into the soft, slick stuff, and put a tree where the fuel system and
turbo are suppose to be.
I'm all right. Just pissed off and a little sore. Thank God I wasn't
driving fast and that our cars are built to absorb a hell of alot of energy.
The right front Dunlop D60 A2 didn't blow! Amazing! I'm glad the car does
NOT have an airbag. The seat belt was enough to restrain me. An air bag
would have made me look like I'd been in the ring with Tyson.
My insurance claims office thought that it would be totaled since the roof
above the passenger's door got pushed up in the wreck. They'll be out to
look at it later this week. Well, at least the left side of the car is OK.
Euro lights and fogs are useless poop though. Those new tie rods had only 3
days on it, as did every front bushings/bearings. Ugh!
The rear clip is good. Anyone know if the rear clip off a 1987 5000CS
Quattro wagon could be used to replace a damaged rear clip on a 1991 200
turbo Quattro wagon? We all know where there is one of those for sale!
Thanks for the on-line therapy. Just to pumped to sleep right now. I have
read a few sad stories on this list and felt badly. Just upset that I have
one to share.
I'd like to give special thanks to my friend Scott Mockery who rode out with
my wife to pick me up in the middle of the night in the pouring rain and
give her and I moral support. I'm sure his calm demeanor helped keep Liesl
from freaking out after she got my call. Friends like Scott are hard to
come by!
Please, please drive safely!
