Regarding my K&N cone purchase, yes, I purchased it (and had it 
installed) at Four Star Racing, just west of Toronto (Georgetown, 
actually).

Well, I did have some concerns, but was told by the Sprongl's at Four 
Star not to worry about it -- it's just another case of Audi 
overengineering. I have not noticed
any lengthier warm ups, or other side effects since the cone was 
installed.
