Ge> Anyone have this problem? The driver's door can't be locked or
Ge> unlocked anymore from the outside with the car's key. I can only use
Ge> the front passenger's door now. The key moves freely in the driver's
Ge> door but doesn't move anything mechanically. A couple of interesting
Ge> points:
Ge> * the alarm can still be armed though,
Ge> * the door(s) can still be locked from the inside. Pushing the
Ge> driver's lock knob down from the inside still locks all the other
Ge> doors.
Ge> Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

BTDT,
There is even a TSB on this if I'm not mistaken. They have
updated the clip that goes on the key cylinder, which is the
problem, the arm breaks off and can't actuate the mechanism.
I remember it being a cheap fix, parts wise, between 5-10 $.
If you're going to do it yourself, I would highly recommend
removing the window frame as per the service manual. I did mine
without removing the frame and it was a b*&ch. It was 2 years
ago since I did mine, but I vaguely recall having to file down
the updated part to fit the existing lock cylinder, otherwise
you'd have to switch out the entire cylinder.
I've been meaning to check the passenger door on mine since
then. The passenger side on my car sounds like corn flakes
being crunched....I just leave it alone.
