That was an educated guess -- didn't have the numbers readily available.  I
knew it was somewhere close to 1000 lbs. heavier than the GTI I was
comparing it to (2811 lbs.), and 3500 lbs seemed close enough.

Edmunds states the weight at 3902 lbs. (same source as the GTI VR6 weight)

If one tried, I wonder just how light it could get (let's try to keep it
street legal though)?  Bet you could cut those 402 lbs by putting kevlar
racing seats into it (the back too, nobody should have to slide around) and
ditching the AC.
