Re: Reply: Aux gauges in UrQ
... well Christopher ... you are describing the Abt gauge extension panel.
Yes, it is a taxi part ... that goes for $300!
I know of others that have tried to obtain them cheaper in Europe as well,
with the same success. I think that you should be able to find one ... it
is just that they are very expensive!
Doesn't the '86 4k have a more rounded instrument cluster? The "Abt" part
is meant to mount in place of the instrument cluster cover on the older
style squared off cluster. If you still have the shelf on top of the dash
to the right of the IC I think you should be able to come up with a solution
that uses off the shelf VDO parts ...
In regards to your comments about sacrifices, the only ones that I made were
to have to look in the console at the gauges ... The diff lock switch is in
precisely the same location. I thought the '86 4kq already had oil pressure
and voltmeter in that location. The original request was for an ur-q, which
were incredibly under-instrumented. I still smile when I see the blue "cold
engine" light ...
... of course I and probably a number of others are interested in anything
you find about a cheap source for the taxi gauge [AKA Abt] extensions ...
