I figured, asumming I was in a perfect world(speedo perfectly
calibrated, tires perfectly inflated with full tread, etc.), that when
my digital speedometer read 126 MPH running on 195/60 tires instead of
the stock 185/60 size for which the speedo is calibrated, I was
traveling at 128.6 MPH, optimistically 129 MPH in an '86 CGT!....not
bad! Now if that is right and I ditch my cat, I'll be zoomin'!!
OTOH, I am prolly going to switch to 195/55 "V" or "Z" rated tires this
spring for what I expect to be a great increase in performance, but this
switch has its downside too. Something that I feel is essential to my
daily back-road driving: top speed. Yes, top speed will suffer greatly,
as I calculated a speed of 124.379 or only 124 MPH. :( Now the cat MUST
come off....
;) ;) ;) Allan
p.s. I hope my calculations are right.
