Immobilisers
As it seems that information about dumping engine codes is going to become more
public, I thought I'd air a warning to the list.
Using a variant of the standard procedure, it's possible to work out why an
engine won't start. If you have installed an immobiliser by, e.g., cutting
into the flywheel sensor wire or the Hall effect sensor wire, this can be
determined very rapidly using the procedure.
It's essential that any immobiliser used on a car with one of the later ECUs
also disables the starter motor in one of the fairly sophisticated ways known
to installers.
Just a caution.
