Hey Y'all,

The check engine idjit light of my '89 200TQ started flashing on me
yesterday in the middle of a business trip.  It comes on only when manifold
pressure is above 1.0 bar (yeah, I know - that's not much) and goes out when
the foot is lifted.

I tried to dump the code and left the engine running at idle.  The light was
not lit.  Inserting a fuse into the top of the fuel pump relay caused the
check engine light simply to come on and stay on,  No flashing.  No
blinking.  No variation in intensity.

I repeated the "dump" with the ignition off - nothing (surprise, surprise).

Another repeat with ignition on and engine not running - the light comes on
and stays on like above.

Is there some trick I should be doing and I'm too stupid to know about?  Uh,
let's rephrase that.  Strike "stupid" and insert "ignorant".
