Audi brokers; request of Jeff McMeekin
I bought a 1992 V8 Quattro from Bob Buff in January, and am quite
satisfied. I would certainly do business with him again. My
colleague then bought a 1995 S6 wagon from him in February,
in turn selling him his 1991 200 wagon.
In both cases, Bob drove the cars up from Harrisburg (PA) to Burlington
(VT)
to make the deliveries. Prices were very fair (about trade).
I have a few problems with the V8 (IR receiver for the locks/alarm does not
work),
but it basically runs very well and the bodywork is in pristine condition.
The only
bad thing is that Bob picked the car up at auction based on a service
record
that had been stamped by an Illinois dealer to show that the 60,000 mile
service
had just been performed. However, my local dealer concluded that it had
NOT
been performed (the Illinois dealer, over the phone, swore that it HAD been
done).
Thus we had to change plugs, coolant, brake fluid, oxygen sensor, timing
and
serpentine belts, then the thermostat. Bob was as upset about this as I
was, and
we tried to get some reimbursement from Audi of America, who basically said
"tough cheese - sue the dealer in Illinois!". However, he is being very
helpful in
obtaining needed wheels, tires and other parts at very low prices.
The S6 wagon is just about perfect; my colleague is delighted and drives it
more often than his S4, even though he just had the S4 boosted to 335 hp!
I don't know any other brokers. When I was looking for a V8, I faxed
enquiries
to all the advertisers in the Quattro magazine, including some who listed
V8's
for sale. Bob was the only one who replied (out of 11), so he got the
business!
