A4 squealing brakes update...

I knew a woman a good twenty years ago who had a Daimler-Benz that never 
exceeded 35mph.  It got sluggish once in a while, so she took it for a service.
 
The mechanics just took it for a _good_ run up the A5 and "blew out the 
cobwebs".
 
Seriously - I often drive like a truck driver, using serious anticipation to 
avoid both braking and acceleration on long trips.  And every so often the 
brake pads "glaze over" and need the glaze grinding off.  Which usually happens 
on one of my 60-mile overland trips to a club meeting ...
