In a message dated 97-03-19 17:48:07 EST, you write:
<< Imagine yourself getting hit on the head at least 3000 times a minute,
for extended
periods of time! At the same time getting a valve shoved back at you
at 85lbs of
force, 3000 times a minute!
Bad lifters will cause excessive wear on the cam lobes, valve stems,
and cause cyclic stress that can "shatter" the top of the lifter!
Changing your valve lifters will actually make the motor run better!
Since the
valves are opening all the way now! Its almost like putting in a new
cam!(almost)

This is an exellent post on the Noisy lifter thread. Putting synthetic or
magical treatments doesn't "solve" the problem behind noisy lifters. The job
takes less than 2 hours for the average joe, the lifters can be had for
around 15USD ea mail order. This really is a way to make your car run
better, and is a preventitive maintenance item. Slapping cams with bad
lifters is a losing proposition.
nice post Mike
