Monkey Lads Score Again
I once had an Audi dealership change my brake pads!
This was on a less than 1 year old Coupe GT! The pads were faulty,
and almost gone! So I enquired, and it was covered under warranty...
2 Days later I received my car back. New pads of course! Happy me!
Well, a few months later, I had a CV boot let go up front, and it
greased the right
front pads, so they would need changing again! I called the
dealership, NOT covered
under warranty! Much $$$ to fix, both CV boots to change, etc...etc...
So I took the car to an "independent" VW/Audi place, and his price was
much better,
for same work! He called me up at work, asking who did my last brake
job on the car?
I told him the dealer, he laughed! So off to his shop I went.
Upon arrival, he showed me the front rotors were worn, unevenly, and
worn beyond
min, too thin, for federal law to allow him to release the car on the
road!
Well, off to the dealership I went. They claimed the independent shop
was full of it!
So I showed them the rotors. They(service manager) claimed it was my
driving!
Offered to sell me new rotors for $100 each! (I still have the
receipt) since it was obvious, I needed new ones! Not to mention pads
for $85! (also on receipt)
Well the independent fixed my car, not much $$$ saved since I had to
get parts from
dealer(still new Audi), but me and the independent became good
friends, and
so began my education in fixing my own Audi! Thanks to a string of
Dealerships
performing "bad maintenance".
I have a whole batch of them if anyones interested!
You should hear the one about my A/C high pressure switch, and a
dealer!
Now adays I get ALL my Audi parts at nearly 50% of what the dealer
asks, sometimes
less, and since I do my own work....
