Now let me tell you about the dealer who "replaced" the printed circuit
board from my instrument cluster for $301 in parts plus another $365 for
labor and other parts. (Yes, that's right - $666 - any significance to the
numerical amount? Hmmmm. I wonder...)
Later, when the problem was still there, I opened up the cluster myself and
found only a bit of solder on the *OLD* board. When I confronted them about
it I was told "Yes we did replace the board." Yeah - right - sure. I got a
refund of the price of the board and then, after much experimentation and
some excellent advice from some very knowledgable list members, fixed the
d*mned thing myself for about $5 worth of parts and some of my own labor.
Does my car *EVER* go back to that dealer's shop? NO! Period. I think I'm
glad there is no other dealer within 100 miles. It keeps me from being
tempted to try another dealer.
