Mike,
There is a product on the U.K market called "Headlight saver" marketed by
"Clear Star" which is a kit for repairing bullseye damage and the like.
The kit consists of two tubes of clear epoxy (resin/hardener), a
syringe,and a flat plastic disc.
The epoxy is mixed,drawn up the syringe and injected into the defect.The
disc is then placed over the gunge and the air squeezed out.As epoxy is
non-air-drying the resultant mess should then dry allowing you to peel off
the disc leaving an invisible repair (yum,yum).
As you may have guessed,I have not done this myself but it sounds better
than a new lens(even at 45quid from German and Swedish).Incidentally the
kit costs a tenner and is available at all good...etc.etc.
