Quentin, you are quite right. I own BMW and Audi. Love 'em both.
Some motorheads just get a little over zealous about these things. I
hope these elect not to rise to the occasion in this case.
Regarding aggressive driving, I think many performance oriented
drivers could, in all honesty, be termed "recreational speeders." That
is not the same as driving with a nasty "Get the f__k out of my way!"
attitude. Spirited driving can definitely be done in a non-intimidating
and, indeed, safe manner. (This is not to say there aren't times and
places on the road when the other driver can benefit from a driving
demonstration a la Phil Payne.) Basically, motorsports is best served
when enthusiasts drive with civility, if not necessarily slowly.
We just need to remember that the fellow in front of us needs a little
time to wake up. If he is startled or surprised, he may react
inappropriately.
A good rule of engagement for the road: If you feel angry, you're not
doing it right.
