Turbo Checking

Hi all,

I have had a turbo die. It does start off with small amounts of blue smoke
on start up, and during gear changes, just like stem seals... only within
2k, you'll find youself leaving a thick trail of white smoke.

A simple, no tools test I was shown:

Remove hose from Turbo intake, grab hold of the fixing bolt in the centre of
the compressor, and try to move it to see if there is any play. A small
amount of play is ok, but when it really starts to move, you know you will
be having problems.

Also, a sign of a turbo going is a coating of oil around the hoses from the
turbo to the manifould.

Hope this helps y'all,

Mike
