eurolites from RPI, lifter and clutch questions

Folks,

I think the lights at Ron's Parts are the same ones as were upgraded to
on European Car magazine's Project 4kcsq. So they are stock (U.S.
spec)-looking, but with a better beam pattern. Is that still a good
deal? I REALLY can't afford them right now, being as I am buying the
Schrick, and still need a clutch (and those annoying things that get in
the way of tinkering with my Audi like RENT and INSURANCE)! I was gonna
eat crackers and tuna for a few months, when I thought they were the
same as Ti's. It would be worth it!?!

But seriously, I still might go through with it, if you guys think it's
worth it. I do like to see at night.

QUESTION I: If my car has hydraulic lifters, do they not have any shims
at all. I thought for a long time that even hydraulic tappets had
shims, but lately (after reading Project 4kcsq timing belt/H20
pump/lifter article), I'm thinking you just oil 'em, drop 'em in,
install the cam, and go. Is that right? I've got an '86 Coupe GT.
Sorry, no engine codes or anything right now. Can't see it from in
front of the computer. ;-)

QUESTION II: Anybody replace their own clutch? Is it fairly easy? I
know you need the special clutch aligning tool. I don't know if that is
included with a new clutch kit. I'm planning on getting the kit from
German Parts and Restoration. I have yet to ask them if the tool is
included with the kit. I think it might because I've heard of other
kits including such tools.

See you guys later (but maybe not at night if I don't get the lights
;-) )
