86 4kq Low Oil Pressure

Dear Quattrophiles-

Has anyone seen oil pump failure in the I5 engines?

I have 130k on my 86 4kq.  Today while on the highway, the oil pressure
warning light and buzzer came on.  I immediately stopped the car and
checked the oil level (fine).  I idled the car a little, and everything
was fine so I started driving again.  

The warning occurred twice more.  The oil light slowly lit, gained
intensity, and then the buzzer sounded.  As soon as I started to slow
down, the light and buzzer went out.  I stopped for a few minutes, and
checked some electrical connections at the back of the head.  The light
and buzzer have not gone on again since (about 30 mile driving home).  

I was convinced it was electrical gremlins, however there is a knocking
sound now coming from the oil pump area of the engine.  

Help!  Any suggestions or comments are much appreciated.
