2 questions about the conversion

Just talked to Max at AVS Yesterday about an engine.  He is holding a 88 turbo 
motor with about 75k miles for me.  
While talking with max he mentioned that he has a turbo quattro coupe intake 
system for about 500.  His point was that the 4000s system is too small and 
might get overheated.  My question is, is it worth that much to get the intake 
from a coupe q?  What potential problems are there for using the stock intake 
system?  I do like the idea of having a closer to stock system that is made 
for that engine but this is a lot of money.  This is an offer that will not be 
there for long so I am going to have to make the decision now.
Second question is should I buy the 3 volume shop manual for the 5000's or 
will the Bentley suffice.  Does anyone have the manual for just the engine 
that I can buy separately.
